Teaching & Supervision

We offer courses for undergraduates and graduates in the field of International Political Economy, International Relations, and Research Design & Methods including i.e. data analysis, causal inference, and computational text analysis. Our teaching is open to students in Philosophy & Economics, Economics, History & Economics, International Economics & Development, and International Economics & Governance.

Our goal is to help students develop strong theoretical and analytic skills and to evaluate arguments in light of the empirical evidence. We believe that good theory is essential for understanding political events and sound methodological training is crucial for arriving at robust social scientific conclusions.

I have extensive experience supervising research related to comparative and international political economy, politics, and international relations from an empirical standpoint. If you would like to write a thesis in one of these areas or consider pursuing a doctoral degree, you should have a strong command of empirical research methods (i.e. statistics, econometrics, causal inference etc.). If you don’t yet have this background, you should take the courses that we have on offer: e.g. ‘research design and methods’, ‘data analysis in R’, and ‘causal inference’. If you intend to write a thesis with me, you must attend the thesis seminar.
